We had such a fun Red Ribbon Week and we were able to have some good discussions on how to avoid harmful substances that could hurt our bodies and minds. We also had such a fun Halloween wearing our costumes and participating in the parade. A big thanks to those who came for the Halloween parade and those who helped with our party by sending treats for our class. You are so supportive in all that we do and I appreciate it so much!
Just a quick reminder, we will be walking to the Randall Jones Theater at SUU tomorrow morning to see the play "Frog and Toad". We will leave shortly after 9:00 am and will return at lunch time. Please have your student wear good walking shoes and bring a jacket for the morning because it willl still be cold when we leave the school.
This Week's Happenings:
Language Arts: We are starting a new unit about Ancient Rome. We will be reading about the origins of Rome and other myths associated with Rome. In our word study we are working with words with the r-controlled vowels. In grammar we are working with verb tenses and the suffixes -er and -or.
Math: In math we are working with multiplication facts and looking for patterns in a multiplication chart. We will also solve problems involving multiplication.
Spelling: Our spelling words this week have r-controlled vowels. Our words are: marbles, barbecue, portion, sword, motor, doctor, servant, messenger, turkey, slurp, giraffe, sir. The challenge words are: above, beginning. We have a bonus word this week for extra points. The students do not have to spell this word, but are welcome to try. If they are able to spell the word correctly, they can earn 2 extra points. The bonus word is: Mediterranean.
