I am looking forward to meeting with each of you next week for your student's SEP. We already have some great achievements to share with you!
Just a reminder about the PTA family night. It is on Sept. 30 starting at 4:00 pm. Tickets for this event will be on sale on Thursday and Friday of this week.
The book fair will be held during SEP after school each day.
School pictures will be take on Thursday, Sept. 26. Look for the information to order pictures. Every student's picture will be taken for class pictures and the yearbook.
This Week's Happenings:
Language Arts: We will continue to read informational texts about animals. This week we will read about fish, amphibians and reptiles. We will also learn about the prefixes re- and pre- and how these prefixes change the meaning of words. In our word study we will discuss abstract nouns (happiness, joy, bravery). We will also review the rule of how to add -es to words ending with 'y'.
Math: We have been working with graphs and learning how to read them and solve problems with them. We will work with bar graphs this week.
Spelling: Our spelling words this week will be nouns and verbs that we will add the suffix -es to. This weeks words are: puppy, penny, study, carry, butterfly, lady, bunny, dry, hurry, marry. Students will also need to know how to add the -es to these words - puppies, pennies, studies, carries, butterflies, ladies, bunnies, dries, hurries, marries.
