This Week's Happenings:
Language Arts: We will continue reading classic tales which will include "The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland" and "The Wind in the Willows". In our reading we are discussing theme, perspective and dialogue being used as literary devices in writing. We will review spellings using the digraphs ' kn, wr, wh, gn, ch, sh, ph, th'. We will also revisit the 'r' controlled vowels which include 'ar, er, ir, ur, or'.
Math: This week we will review adding and subtracting with regrouping. We will add and subtract number up to 1,000. We are also being introduced to times tables will begin our process of passing them off. We have all passed off our 0's and will next pass off the 1's and the 2's. Practicing the times tables at home will be very helpful in assisting your student in passing them off.
Spelling: Spelling words will begin next week. They will be listed on this blog and will also be on the homework cover. Please practice these at home with your student.
Homework: Homework will come home again today and last week's homework should be turned in today. Please make sure you have signed the front cover on each day indicating that you have reviewed your student's math pages and also that they have read 20 minutes each day.
