Thank you for your support last week as we met for parent teacher conferences. I enjoyed meeting with each of you and discussing the progress of your student. This is a wonderful class and I enjoy being with them each day. Thank you for sharing your student with me.
This Week's Happenings:
Language Arts: We are starting a new unit and will be reading about our bodies. We will learn about the skeletal system and the muscular system. We will review topic sentences and concuding sentences and how to sequence supporting details. We will also learn about singular and plural nouns and rules to write these plurals. In our word study we will work with the prefixes mis- and dis-.
Math: We are starting a new unit and will learn about multiplication. We will make equal groups and relate addition and multiplication.
Spelling: Our spelling words are singular nouns that we will make plurals nouns. The words are:
night, glass, fox, story, baby, child, man, tooth, foot, person. The plural of these words are: nights, glasses, foxes, stories, babies, children, men, teeth, feet, people. Students will need to know how to write each word in singular form and plural form.
3rd Grade Thrills. : Believe it or not, we will be at the end of the first quarter on Oct. 11th. I will send home a grade printout on Oct. 14 for the end of the quarter. Our first 3rd grade thrills activity will be on Oct. 25. In order for students to participate, they will need to have 80% or higher on their grade printout. I will accept any missing homework for this quarter up until Oct. 11. The homeworks that will be on this quarter are homeworks 2 - 7.
