We are starting the 2nd quarter this week. I will be sending home a grade printout for 1st quarter on Monday. Be looking for this to come home.
This Week's Happenings:
Language Arts: We will read about the muscular system this week. We are writing paragraphs about our skeletal system and muscular system. In our grammar studies we will learn how to identify irrelevant sentences in a paragraph and how to write a title for a paragraph. We will use the prefixes un- and non- to change words.
Math: We will make arrays to model a multiplication sentence. We will learn about the commutative property of multiplication ( 3x4 = 4x3 ) and will review the 0 and 1 times tables.
Spelling: Our spelling words this week are words ending with the letter 'f'' and practicing the rule to make these words plurals. The spelling words are: knife, life, half, wolf, loaf, elf, leaf, thief, shelf, self. The plurals for these words are: knives, lives, halves, wolves, loaves, elves, leaves, thieves, shelves, selves.
P.E. For P.E. this week the students are doing their mile run. They can bring a device to listen to music during this activity, but will need to keep it in their backpacks the rest of the day.
Harvest Holiday: We will have no school on Monday Oct. 21, this is our Harvest Holiday.
