Welcome: We are ready to begin another week. Let's get started.
Reading: We are starting a new unit today. This is unit 9 called "The Age of Exploration". We will use a new reader for this unit. We will learn about explorers who came to America and discovered the Ancient Native Americans. Today we will read the introduction in our reader and begin our workbook for this unit. After reading, you will need your Explorer's Notebook and the page called "Explorers". These items will be in the new materials you picked up last week. You will need scissors and glue to complete this activity so have those ready. Click here for the activity.
Math: Let's begin our new unit in math today. We are going to learn about perimeter and area. You will need lesson 11.1 from your math book, pages 625 - 630. We will divide this into small lessons. Click here for the beginning of our lesson pages 625 - 626. Next click here for the next part of our lesson. Finally, click here to correct your practice page.
Listening and Learning: We will begin our new unit by reading about the explorer Christopher Columbus. You will need your Listen and Learn booklet called :Europeans Explorers of North America". You will also need to have your Explorer's Notebook ready. This is the same notebook you used during reading today. Let's start with the introduction. Click here for the video.
